Cho Seung-Hui quien pasara a la historia como la persona que mato a mas personas dentro de una escuela en la historia de Estados Unidos escuchaba a Led Zeppelin y a Nirvana en su laptop según dijeron en entrevista con CNN sus dos compañeros de habitación, pero lo que escuchaba una y otra vez el joven de 23 años que estudiaba su mayor de lengua Inglesa era Shine del grupo Collective Soul.

"Shine" del 93 fue el primer sencillo (single) que fue hit de la banda y pertenece al álbum Hints, "Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid", "Shine" se convirtió en la canción No.1 de un Álbum Rock en el 94 (#1 Album Rock Song of 1994), y gano un premio Billboard como la Top cancion rock (Top Rock Track).

En el 2001 Dolly Parton grabo un cover de Shine, misma que la hizo acredora a un premio Grammy por la mejor interpretación vocal femenina de Country.
